Battered Moons Poetry Competition

Are you a poet and you don't even know it?

If you're feeling rather creative why not whisk up your own personal poem, with a chance to read it at the Swindon Literature Festival 2010.

Here's how to enter:

Poets must be 14 years old or over and residents within the Swindon Borough to enter.

• Entry is free.

• The poem(s) must be entirely the poet's own work and previously unpublished (this includes selfpublication, web publishing and broadcasting).

• The poem(s) must be no longer than 50 lines, not including title.

• Maximum 3 poems per person.

• Entries must be in English and typed on one side only of the page, one poem per page, in A4 size.

• No personal details or identification marks must be written anywhere on the poem.

• Include your full name, address, telephone number and poem title(s) on a separate document and send as a separate attachment.

• Poems cannot be returned, so please keep your own copy.

• The closing date for entries is 8 January 2010.

• The 7 winners will be notified by post towards the end of January 2010.

• The judges’ decision is final.

• The winners will be chosen anonymously by the two judges, poets Martin Malone and Cristina Newton, who will both read all the entries.

• The 7 winners will be invited to read their work at the Swindon Literature Festival 2010 in May, in a public event alongside a well known poet. Venue and exact date and time of event to appear in the Swindon Literature Festival brochure.

• Copyright remains with the poet. However, finalists’ poems may be used in promotional material or displayed for up to two years. Submitted poems may be printed in the media or featured on local radio.

• Send your poem(s), (with details in a separate attachment), to:
